’We Are Going to Hold Up His Memory’: Pittsburgh Fire Chief Dies After Collapsing at the Scene of the Fire

According to Pittsburgh Post Gazette, WTAE, and Trib Live, John Walsh, the chief of the Pittsburgh Fire Battalion, surpassed away after collapsing at the website of a fire in East Hills, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday, Nov. 20.

Around 9 p.M. On Wednesday, Walsh, 60, who had worked for the municipal bureau for 37 years, arrived on the seven-hundred block of Wilkinsburg Avenue. However, a heart-related disorder brought on him to fall apart whilst on web site. 

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office later pronounced that he was transferred to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Oakland, Pennsylvania, where he turned into declared dead at 10:59 p.M., according to WTAE. From the Oakland hospital, his body was transported in a procession to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office. His body will be guarded by an honor guard until Monday, November 25, when he is buried and given a funeral.

At Station 8 in Pittsburgh, other firefighters erected a memorial site and positioned the late chief’s firefighting equipment outside the structure.

In 1987, Walsh began working in the department. In June 2012, he was appointed to Battalion Chief, a position his father had held.
