The Stranger Things series finale was approved by David Harbour. On Thursday, October 17, at the Happy Sad Confused podcast’s 10th anniversary celebration in New York City, Harbour gave a hint about the impending fifth and final season of Stranger Things.

The 49-year-old actor, who plays Jim Hopper in the popular Netflix series, informed the audience at the event and host Josh Horowitz that the cast had just finished reading the season 5 finale.

He started by saying, “Look, I have very strong opinions because I’m very close to the show.” “And if you enjoy the show, they might not be as good as yours.” 

“I appear in the show as an actor. He admitted that “sometimes [he’ll] get very mad” at what he believes to be “a bad episode” or a season he “didn’t like,” but he stated, “So I see the nuts and bolts.”

“People started crying about halfway through this episode when we were reading it — just us reading it,” he remarked. Then, for the final twenty minutes or so, there were waves of various people sobbing uncontrollably. He remarked, “My favorite is Noah Schnapp,” before mockingly mimicking Schnapp’s weeping tears.

He acknowledges that he “was totally prepared” to keep that from the audience, saying, “It’s ten years later, and we examine that idea, and it’s so well done and so beautiful.”

David Harbour stated in May 2022 that he is aware of the series’ conclusion and that “it’s quite moving and quite beautiful.”

Although the official narrative for season 5 has not yet been disclosed by Netflix, it is expected to follow the Hawkins children as they attempt to finally fight Vecna after the Upside Down invades their town.
